A company trading with Norway from outside it has no Norwegian destination for post. Customers, suppliers and public bodies expect one, and correspondence sent abroad is slow and is sometimes not sent at all. This service supplies that address and handles what arrives at it.
What is provided
- The address
- A Norwegian postal address at our premises in Lørenskog, outside Oslo, issued to your company in writing with the exact format to be used.
- Receipt
- Letters and documents addressed to your company are received and recorded on arrival.
- Scanning
- Each item is scanned and emailed to the address you nominate, normally on the working day it arrives and by the following working day at the latest.
- Forwarding
- Originals are forwarded physically to any address you give, on request, at cost.
- Use in public material
- The address may be shown on your website, in email signatures and in correspondence, subject to the limits in the following section.
What this service is not
This is a correspondence address. The distinction matters and is set out here rather than in the terms, because a company that needs one of the following needs a different arrangement and should not buy this one.
- Not a registered business address
- It is not a forretningsadresse for entry in the Central Coordinating Register or the Register of Business Enterprises. A company registering a NUF or an AS must give an address it is entitled to use for that purpose, and this is not one.
- Not an establishment
- Holding this address does not create a place of business in Norway, a permanent establishment for tax purposes, or any obligation or entitlement to register for Norwegian VAT.
- Not a registered office
- It is not an address for the service of legal process, and we do not accept documents served on your company.
- Not a goods address
- Letters and documents only. Parcels, stock and customer returns are not received, and returns handling for a webshop is not a service we offer.
- Not a personal address
- It is issued to a company. It confers no residence, no personal registration, and it may not be used as a private address by any individual.
If a registered business address is what you are looking for, the route to one runs through registering a Norwegian branch, which gives your company an organisation number and an address of its own.
Scope
Appropriate where
- A company outside Norway needs a Norwegian destination for correspondence from customers, suppliers or public bodies.
- Post is already being sent to Norway and there is nobody in the country to receive it.
- A .no domain is held through our trustee service and correspondence relating to it requires a Norwegian address.
- A Norwegian address is wanted in public material because Norwegian customers expect to see one.
Not appropriate where
- A registered business address is required for entry in the Central Coordinating Register.
- Goods, parcels or customer returns are to be received.
- The address is required for the service of legal process or by a public body as a registered office.
- The purpose is to present the company as established in Norway when it is not.
Procedure
- 01
Enquiry
The company name, the country of registration, and the purpose the address is required for. We confirm whether that purpose is covered before proceeding.
- 02
Identification
A certificate of registration for the company and identification for the person instructing us. The address is not issued before both are held.
- 03
Issue
The address is issued in writing, in the exact format to be used, together with the email address to which scans will be sent.
- 04
Operation
Post is received, scanned and emailed. Forwarding is arranged on request. Nothing further is required of you.
- 05
Annual review
The company details and the nominated email address are confirmed once a year and the identification on file is refreshed where it has expired.
Handling of correspondence
- Opening
- Items are opened and scanned only where you have given written authority to open them. Without that authority the envelope is scanned and the item is held unopened until you instruct us.
- Timing
- Scans are sent on the working day of arrival, and by the following working day at the latest. Nothing is held back for a weekly batch.
- Originals
- Held for sixty days. Forwarded at any point within that period on request. Destroyed securely afterwards unless you have asked for them to be kept.
- Advertising
- Unaddressed and advertising mail is discarded without notification and is not counted against your monthly allowance.
- Records
- Scans are retained for twelve months so that an item can be reissued if an email is lost, then deleted. The register of items received is kept for as long as the agreement runs.
Cost
$39 a month, or $390 a year paid in advance. There is no setup fee and no charge for issuing the address.
Ten items of post a month are included. Additional items are $3 each, charged in arrears and only in a month where the allowance is exceeded. Physical forwarding is charged at Norwegian postage plus $6 a consignment, whatever the number of items in it.
Where the address is taken alongside the domain trustee service, both renew on the same date and appear on one invoice.
Termination
The agreement runs month to month, terminable by either party on thirty days’ notice. Where a year has been paid in advance, the unused whole months are refunded.
On termination the address must be removed from your website, your correspondence and any material in which it appears. Post arriving in the sixty days following termination is forwarded to you at cost. After that period it is returned to sender.
The remaining services for companies operating in Norway are listed on the services page.
Making an enquiry
The company name, the country of registration, and what the address is required for. We confirm whether the service covers that use before any payment is taken.
